Kidney Damage
Diabetic Kidney Disease (DKD) is a serious micro vascular complication of diabetes mellitus. 2 out of 3 people are on dialysis due to diabetic kidney disease. Uncontrolled diabetes for a long time causes structural as well as functional damage to kidney. Regular monitoring of Serum Creatinine with once in a year evaluation of ACR (Albumin Creatinine Ratio) helps in implementing early treatment for the DKD. Good control of sugar and blood pressure are the most important primary treatment to prevent progression to kidney diseases.
Note - ACR is the earliest marker to detect diabetic kidney disease.
